Eric looks so flustered and surprised.
Hyesung should initiate the skinship more often!

I never seem to get past the first few episodes of any idol-centric variety program. The only shows I’ve been able to complete in their entirety have been SS501’sThank You For Waking Me Up(which also so happens to be my first encounter with a Korean variety program), MBLAQ’sSesame Player, and MBLAQ’sIdol Army(although I took about a six month break on this one, not anticipating returning to it until I realized I was watching some clips from the later episodes and decided to see them in context).

Generally, I prefer shows that have adults playing silly games in interesting places that also give me a greater look at Korea, rather than just pretty idols running around doing silly games on a soundstage.Running Man,1N2D, andFamily Outingare my go-to variety shows, and although I’ve petered out onRunning Man(I miss the days when they would get locked in somewhere overnight and most of the episode consisted of them actually running. And drinking vile concoctions) and1N2Dlately, I still enjoy rewatching the older episodes (and one of these days I will get around to seeing the new1N2Dcrew, especially since I loved Sung Shi Kyung on the “Viewer’s Special” episode, and now that I’m watchingBridal Mask, I’d like to see Joo Won in the wild).

However, I kept reading from a variety (hah!) of sources how hilariousShinhwa Broadcastis, so I decided to check it out, assuming I would only watch the first episode. Especially since I only have a vague knowledge of Shinhwa, being more familiar with H.O.T. and g.o.d. Although I did enjoy their comeback MV for “Venus” (with theawesome groping danceduring the chorus), and their album is pretty decent, too (a little poppy for my taste, but “On The Road” isbrilliant).

So I was totally neutral coming into this show…

…and ended up falling in love with it within the first ten minutes.

It had that low-key vibe reminiscent ofSesame Player (but with more props! And presumably a slightly bigger budget), and the guys all seemed to have distinct personalities and didn’t seem to care about keeping up appearances for the cameras (well, maybe not at first, but eventually).

But I also have a bizarre fascination for the catapult-into-the-pool game — it’s the one that got me to finish MBLAQ’sIdol Army.Maybe this says too much about me, but I take great delight in watching idols being unceremoniously flung backwards into a pool. Were it not for the tense anticipation of never knowing when you were going to be flung, it seems like it would be pretty fun.

So now I’m hooked. These men are so entertaining, and I’m at a point where I get impatient for subs each week (and this week is the one with SHINee!). I’ve heard that they’re scheduled for 30 episodes. I’m planning on watching every single one. If they got extended to 100, I’d watch all those, too.

Mostly I love it because these guys, while technically idols, are also clearly real people with real personalities. I love how each one is so different from the next, yet it’s clear they love and support each other. Which is why, I suppose, they’ve been able to manage a fairly successful return as a group. At the moment my current Shinhwa “bias” is Hyesung, and not just because he has a super pretty voice. He’s so earnest and yet never quite successful. I dig me the awkward guys, apparently (and I’m just learning about the whole RicSung thing — after watching their debate and MC sharing, I can genuinely say I’m a fan of “oil and water”).

Really, it’s all about the bromance for me.

And the delusional hope that if SS501 does ever come back as a group, that they would also have an awesome variety show like Shinhwa Broadcast. Because I’d watch the hell out of that.

Another Shinhwa Bangsong convert!

블락비 - Burn Out Lyrics

BURN(BURN)OUT(OUT) 부서진 맘, BURN(BURN)OUT(OUT)가슴은 crying

BURN(BURN)OUT(OUT) 시작된 싸움, time is up now, throw the dice

I dont`t wanna stop that, Gonna make you drop that

Gonna make you drop Gonna make you drop drop drop…………

I dont`t wanna stop that, Gonna make you drop that

Gonna make you drop Gonna make you drop drop drop…………

turn around

섣불리 잠들지 않어 분노가 깨워서 뜬눈

세상이 날 버린게 아냐 내가 택하지 않았을 뿐 I`m done

I dont`t wanna stop that, Gonna make you drop that

Gonna make you drop Gonna make you drop drop drop…………

sentisymphony:

It’s not a bad thing to want to be a “kind and nice person”.
But it’s not worth it if you want it so badly that you lose yourself and you end up with a bigger loss.

In fact being nice could well be the most beautiful attribute that a person can have.
So that’s why being nice at anytime to anyone is something that a person can’t do.
When you’re annoyed you might respond roughly when someone talks to you.
You would think then, ‘Ah, why didn’t I respond nicely?’
For people who have this thought and then blame themselves for it, there is no need to restrain yourself in this way.
In this world there are detestable people and people with ill intentions.
Although the Bible says, ‘Love thy enemies’, it’s more important to try to stick to your own will.
In reality it’s not so easy to be nice to all of mankind.

Kindness and love, it’s fine as long as you stick to your style.
Isn’t it tiring to do things that are “unlike yourself”?

I don’t need everyone to like me.
It’s enough to focus all your emotions towards the people most dear to you.

From an essay by Mr Saigo Shigeta…

p.s. The first thing that I realized after turning 30!

Minwoo: Hyesung, do you like Eric?

Hyesung: Of course. (*In Japanese: *Mochiron desu.)

Minwoo: Really, truthfully like him?

Hyesung: Yes, of course. (*Hai’, mochiron desu.)

Minwoo: *laughs and looks on at the clasped hands of RicSyung♥*

I think MinJin were trying to change the topic but they got distracted watching Eric and Hyesung acting all lovey-dovey.

Eric: From all these 14 years, this is the first time (of them holding hands, or of Hyesung willingly doing it.).

Junjin was mumbling stuff again and Minwoo totally looked on disbelievingly. LOL.

Eric: Hyesung’s condition was not good today, having a sore-throat, so he took aspirin. I think he’s gone crazy.

Hyesung: Hey, what are you saying? (We are) On stage and saying “he’s gone crazy” to members like this?

Eric: Sorry. (*In Japanese: Gomen ne.)

Minwoo: It’s okay because we’re Shinhwa.

Hyesung: This thing.. is a secret.

Minwoo: SO! Eric-sshi…

Eric: Yes…

Minwoo: How much do you love Hyesung?

Hyesung: *pushes Minwoo* Don’t you have anything else to say?

OKAY EVERYBODY I’M DYING HERE TRYING TO WRITE COHERENTLY AND BREATHE PROPERLY!! *-* ♥

President Minwoo is at it again!! MANSE!!! m(_ _)m
